Carolina Family Engagement Center (CFEC)
Project Manager
CFEC is one of 12 Statewide Family Engagement Centers in the U.S. created pursuant to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). CFEC is funded by a five-year, nearly $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education which began in October 2018.
In my role as the Project Manager for CFEC I assisted the Project Director in developing tools to guide CFEC staff in providing capacity-building training and technical assistance in family engagement to school districts, schools, teachers, families, and community-based organizations. CFEC's outreach efforts focus on families with low incomes, English language learners, minorities, students with disabilities, homeless children, youth in foster care, and migrant students. My additional responsibilities included developing organizational and administrative practices, managing budgets, contracts, grant compliance and reporting requirements, coordinating logistics of CFEC events statewide, overseeing community engagement efforts, and supervision of print and digital content creation.
